New Zealand U23 Rowing team

In 2019 the foundation were delighted to support a strong team of 27 New Zealand Under-23 athletes to compete at the U23 World Rowing Championships in Sarasota-Bradenton in the United States between 24-28 July.

The team won two silver medals at the World Rowing U23 Championships. Six of New Zealand’s eight crews contested A Finals, with four crews contesting A and B Finals on the last day of the regatta and the men’s double scull and men’s coxed four both taking silver.

Each year the Foundation has contributed around $15,000 to the Under 23 New Zealand Rowing campaign but we have aspirations to contribute much more, and ultimately with your help, remove the financial burden from our aspiring young athletes.

'My experience as a first time Under-23 athlete was epic! There’s nothing like it, training in an elite environment with the best support and coaching gave us everything we needed to preform to the best of our ability. The opportunity to train like elites has only increased my drive to get to the top, the technical improvements and personal development Under-23’s has taught me will help me continue to develop and reach my goals. I’m so thankful for this opportunity and am looking forward to the upcoming season!'
